I think it’s really rare that we can get just one slice of staffed pizza in Chicago! It was affordable and ofc the taste was super amazing!! I’m glad I went here instead of typical famous ones in downtown :)

Some of the best stuffed pizza in the city. Sauce is great, crust is GREAT, cheese is great. I wish the sausage were a little better, but everything else was perfect. Super nice staff and a very comfortable neighborhoody atmosphere.

Not fresh not good.... am very surprised how many great reviews this place has, I went there and I didn't not think that the good reviews were translated to truth here. The pizzas here are sold by the pie and slice. we got one of the deep dish slice cheese and I was not happy. The pizza was not fresh at all. I have not much to talk about we just had the slice and were unhappy and left. The pizza sits around in the heater gets all hard and stale. I was not impressed. I might have to go back and order a fresh pie for more of a fare review only because of there reputation. As of right now i don't recommend.

Have wanted to try this place for years based on awards and other mentions. Tried 2 different slices of their stuffed style (what friendly employee said they are known for and the vast majority of what was available by the slice). Style is somewhere between Giordanos and Peaquods. Very bready crust with sauce that’s oregano forward without much/any sweetness. Not particularly my taste but it’s affordable and quick friendly service. Bare bones but clean interior.

The counter guy was grouchy. The deep dish pizza and salad were good. The dining room staff was lovely. Place needs a clean.

Where can you to get a dinner of mostaccioli with garlic bread, salad and chicken noodle soup for $9.95? Or a 12-inch thin crust pizza for $13? Or an Italian beef sandwich for $8.75? At The Art of Pizza, an Italian restaurant that produces the No. 1 deep dish pizza in Chicago, according to the Chicago Tribune and Thrillist.com. Located at 3033 North Ashland Avenue, in the city's Lakeview community, it features a menu that is anchored by thin crust and deep dish pizza and also includes pasta, ribs, foot-long subs, salads, sandwiches, chicken and shrimp. A counter-serve pizzeria that is open from 11 to 11 Sunday through Thursday and 11 to midnight on Friday and Saturday, The Art of Pizza sells all manner of pizza, including Detroit-style, by the slice, stuffed, pan and Uno's Chicago Deep Dish. And they've been doing it for over 30 years. On this occasion, I came for the baked mostaccioli, said to be one of the best in Chicago. I started with five chicken tenders with honey mustard and BBQ sauce and coleslaw and finished with cannoli. The mostaccioli was plentiful and very tasty with lots of meat sauce, tomato and melted mozzarella cheese.

The only bad thing I have to say, it was very cold outside, so each time the door was opened we would freeze. So sit far from the counter. There is a self-paying parking near. We were a group of four. We bought individual slices, since we wanted different flavors. Slices are ready to serve, so our service was quick. I asked for Art's Special. The ingredients are so gracefully combined. It was hot. Crust was so crunchy. Bread was perfectly baked. Pizza was Oh-My-God great. Service was really good. The person that served us spoke English and Spanish.

We wanted some true authentic Chicago pizza during our stay and we were not disappointed! I'd definitely recommend maybe getting one slice and seeing how you go, as we started with two each and it was a bit much and we have big appetites. Incredibly filling, but incredibly delicious.

The Art of Pizza wasn't on my radar with my recent visit to Chicago. I took my work team to the "renowned" Lou Malnati's a few days before and was totally embarrassed for even suggesting that. On my last day my son and I ordered a stuffed pizza from Art of Pizza. It was much more superior to Lou Malnati's! Even considering the fact that we ordered pineapple as a topping (which I hate) rather than pepperoni as intended. Regardless, it was awesome and I would highly recommend this establishment over the other, much more well known pizza joints!
