What each action earns, and the ladder from Impasto to Verace.

OpenPizzaMap is built by people who eat pizza and report back. Every review, photo, and new spot makes the map more useful for the next person. Points keep score of that work, and badges mark how far you have carried it.

What earns points

  • Write a review+10
  • Add a spot that gets approved+5
  • Suggest an edit that gets approved+5
  • Attach a photo to your review+3 per photo
  • Upvote a useful review+1 for you +1 for the author
  • Publish an article+20

Spots and edits earn their points once a curator approves them, not when you submit. That keeps the map hand-picked, and keeps spam worthless. Downvotes earn nothing, for anyone. Upvoting caps at 20 points per day so nobody farms the button.

The badge ladder

  1. Impasto the dough 0
  2. Apprendista the apprentice 10
  3. Fornaio the baker 30
  4. Pizzaiolo 75
  5. Capo Pizzaiolo head of the bench 150
  6. Maestro Pizzaiolo the master 350
  7. Gran Maestro the grandmaster 700
  8. Verace the real thing 1500

Every profile starts as Impasto, the raw dough. One honest review is enough to reach Apprendista. The top of the ladder is meant to take years, not weekends.

The fine print

Points follow the work, not the other way around. If a review is deleted, its points go with it. If a vote is taken back, both sides hand the point back. The ledger behind this is auditable, so totals can always be rebuilt from what actually happened.
