Discover the best pizza in Madrid

Pizza is not native to Madrid, yet the Spanish capital is now home to two of the finest pizzerias in Europe. The scene is barely a decade old, built largely by Italian transplants who brought Neapolitan pizza to the city.

It started around 2016, when authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizza opened in Lavapiés, and accelerated as Naples-trained pizzaioli followed. Today Barcelona and Madrid trade the title of Spain's pizza capital.

Fratelli Figurato, run by the Figurato brothers in Chamberí, was named Spain's top pizzeria three years running. Baldoria in Salamanca, from a chef who trained with a big Italian hospitality group, went further: in 2025 it was ranked second in Europe and eighth in the world.

The dominant style is classic Neapolitan, with a contemporary wave layering creative toppings on the same soft, wood-fired base.

Beyond Lavapiés, Chamberí, and Salamanca, you will find good pizza across Malasaña and La Latina.
