  Went there as a group of 6. We found the menu confusing . What’s a square? Couldn’t hear the waiter due to noise, although friendly. Wine overpriced but tasty. The squares were stodgy pizza interpretations by the pot washer. My calamari pasta was tasteless as no obvious seafood but the blob of bursts was nice. Icecream was lovely Devine in fact. Won’t go back as food selection and quality poor.

  We were so looking forward to this dinner for a special occasion and was hugely disappointed as they have stopped serving pizzas and only sell something they call squares, which are some kind of Chicago/Sicilian Aussie hybrid, that was quite disappointing, basically crunchy, dry cheese bread with lots of sauce and too many overcooked pepperonis. So would not go back again. Their Double Ronni was the pizza that put this place on the map with numerous positive reviews from the media. I had it twice, it was outstanding, with a great crust, just the right balance of sweet sauce, cheese, cupping pepperoni and parmesan, and had become my favorite pizza in Melbourne. What would posses a restauranteur to drop the thing that made them famous? Apparently a kitchen dispute. Absurd. Give this place a miss.

  I’m being generous here because I didn’t pay for the meal! So it took over an hour to bring out olives, then another half an hour for green tomatoes in cheap vinegar, the under cooked pasta, in what tasted like tomato soup. And so it went on, the dessert was lovely. The wine fine, but a little steep at $15 a glass. We were a big group, but this does not excuse the poor quality of the meal.

  Had high expectations of Capitano as it was featured in a local news item. Firstly no menus available, just QR link, limited menu not easy to read on mobile. Secondly, as mentioned in other reviews acoustics are really bad, any attempt at conversation virtually drowned out. Starters ok, Roni squared pizza was good, Classic Cheese was awful, a thick puddle of liquid cheese that saturated the base. Pizza crust very charred at the edges so inedible. Much room for improvement all round.
