A16 is Southern Italian food meets California. In a good way! The pizzas are excellent, with the true Neapolitan oven, especially recommended is the Montanara pizza which is briefly fried before being put in the pizza oven. Excellent also the appetizers, especially the squid with fried beans. And outstanding choice of Sicilian wines.

Pizza was burnt. Told the server this and there was zero acknowledgement, no apology and no recovery. Pasta was also undercooked and tasted like straight up flour. Never going back. Go to Bellotti down the street for better pasta

Fried olives were so good I almost choked to death, pizzas are good, just go ahead and order everything. Salmon was my fave! Finished with strong coffee and tiramisu. Drinks are all tasty as well. Staffs all super cool and the art they have up is dope!

We had the unfortunate experience of having reservations on Valentine’s Day at 6:30. We were not seated until 7:10 and dozens of others were still angrily waiting, crowded inside and outside also waiting for their tables. We were led to an ugly, cheap looking back room that felt like a conference room with cardboard walls. The pre-fixe menu was handed to us but not a drink menu, and when I asked for a drink menu (which I saw on other tables) I was rudely told it was pre-fixe. Which clearly, but can we get drinks?? The pre-fixe menu was honestly full of disappointing choices including none of the things most people typically order off of their full menu. The mains were duck, seafood, or vegetarian. Only the margaritas pizza was offered. A bread course was supposed to arrive. It had now been an hour and 15 mins after our initial reservation and no bread. We had to ask, where the waitress walked into a back room and gave us a tiny plate with the smallest, most stale looking pieces of bread with two radishes. The appetizers were gross looking room temp oysters, flavorless caviar dip, and a grey mush with greens that smelled like a dish rag. The service was so slow, not at all trying to make up for the horrific wait we all had to endure, and the food was not great. After the first course was set down we asked to leave. Every single table around us was miserable, having something go wrong, and were clearly as upset as we were. Our waitress did end up only charging us for the drinks but our entire Valentine’s dinner was ruined and we went to a dive bar across the street where we got 10x the level of service. We will never come back. Not quite sure how a restaurant can blow it this badly.

Sausage pizza was good .. calamari w fava bean we didn’t care for, the roasted chicken w Brussels was a solid comfort food. We brought some home. Maybe we ordered wrong pizza? It was just ok. So many good places near by not sure I would come again.. belotti and acre and a cote.. hmm a 16 was just good .

We came for the special Christmas eve prix fixe dinner. Lots of courses featuring lots of sea food in an Italian style. Very differenet from the regular menu, and that is why we came. Very festive holiday atmosphere. We enjoyed excellent professional and friendly service. Some of the dishes were not successes but most were very very good. However the cost was way up there. We knew it was going to be expensive, but this was very expensive. I think this is the way it is in the Bay Area now, and as a result, we think twice before we dine out.

The wood-fired pizzas are excellent here and they offer a good variety to cut up with the scissors they provide. Also great meals and sides but like most places now they can be rather pricey! Wine selection is good. Be aware that if offered sparkling or still water it will add $8 for each (unlike places that make their own sparkling water for free). Music was upbeat and fun and it pulls a nice crowd

Great food. Excellent pizzas, salads, and other appetizers. The fungi pizza is especially fabulous with a great oil to dip.

We were here on Christmas Eve for the feast of seven fishes dinner. First the waiter brought the wrong wine (blame the colorblind bartender :) . The wrong wine was comped then eventually the correct one was brought, then the order came in "out-of-order" and missing an obvious ingredient listed in the menu. At least we got all the items listed in the fixed menu unlike the next table who got served desserts missing 2 of the main courses before. Pasta was mediocre, potion was generous for fixed menu, pizza was decent - nothing memorable and certainly not a place I would take Italian guests to for "Italian" food. The waiter brought the wrong bill charging more than $400 in access then the "corrected" bill came where they added some more $$ than the price listed in the reservation which we paid anyway as a good gesture. The "to-go" bag they prepared was missing 2 dishes we hardly touched. 20% tip was automatically added to the bill so perhaps there was no incentive on attentive service or bringing all the correct dishes. I guess it's possible that they hired temporary staff and didn't have sufficient time to train them. Oh a very loud door alarm went off while we were dining.
