A Masterclass in Italian Flavors – Exceeded All Expectations! I finally visited the famous Filo D’olio in Istanbul with my family, a place that had been on my "must-visit" list for a long time. I’ll admit, I usually approach "hyped" spots with a bit of skepticism, fearing they might be overrated. However, Filo D’olio completely shattered my prejudices. The magic here is truly in the details. The Appetizers & Starters We started with a complimentary snack of vegetables served in olive oil—simple, yet incredibly flavorful. I found myself dipping the fresh bread into that oil until not a drop was left! • Beef Carpaccio: The sauces were the highlight, especially the pesto, which was vibrant and fresh. • Caprese Di Mozzarella: They’ve taken a classic dish to another level with subtle, creative touches. • Parmigiana Di Melanzane: This was a masterpiece—resembling a tower of hidden flavors layered to perfection. Main Courses As a fan of sour/citrus profiles, I chose the Scalloppine Al Limone. It was the perfect choice! The sauce was so addictive that I ended up cleaning the plate with my bread. If you enjoy zesty flavors, this is a must-try. • A Small Critique: The risotto served with my main was a bit too al dente for my personal taste and lacked that signature buttery, creamy finish (mantecatura). • However, I tasted my wife’s Mushroom Risotto, and it was absolutely flawless. • My children had the Lasagna and Filetto Di Pollo Alla Romana; both were rich, authentic, and delicious. The Grand Finale & Tips We closed the evening with their famous Tiramisu, which lived up to its reputation—light, creamy, and balanced. Pro Tip: If you are planning to visit, I highly recommend choosing a table indoors. While the terrace is nice, the interior decor offers a much warmer, more charming, and authentic Italian atmosphere that truly completes the experience.

Big dissapointment! Honestly, the only thing I liked about this place was their music playlist... and that says a lot. The food? Tasteless. Some dishes were unnecessarily deconstructed, and while everything looked great on the menu, the moment you actually take a bite… disappointment takes over. I’ve never been a fan of restaurants that take beautiful, simple ingredients and then try to get too fancy. Italian food shines because of its authenticity and simplicity, take those two away and what are you left with? Also, not cheap at all. I wouldn’t go back, and to be honest, I’m still wondering how they have multiple branches across Turkey.

We came to Filo D’Olio just for the tiramisu, but honestly it wasn’t that special — definitely a bit overrated for the hype. The atmosphere was nice overall, though the music was quite loud, which made it less relaxing. On the positive side, the workers we interacted with gave great service and were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the little lady at the front wasn’t very welcoming. Since she’s the first point of contact, a warmer smile and friendlier attitude would make a big difference. Overall, it was an okay experience, but not one I’d go out of my way for.

I think the best part about my experience in Filo D’olio was how nice the staff were! They were really welcoming and attentive. The food was amazing, as expected from Chef Danilo. They offered us tea afterwards while we were waiting for our takeout tiramisu, it was lovely. Great experience, would love to visit here again.

For the first time trying this famous Italian chef we made a mistake because we ordered both pizzas..actually we can order one pizza and one pasta so I can recommend for those who are first time tryers who want to try this famous Italian chef..tiramisu and margarita pizza are delicious and worth the money..good service..and another thing if you order pizza it will take a long time about 10 minutes (maybe they make fresh the dough and that’s why took so long)and if you guys order pasta so that it arrives faster..
