We ordered takeaway as we are not frequent pizza eaters but decided to give this place a try. We prefer New York style pizza , and once I got past the shock of the price they charge for their pies (they are a bit steep) we decided it was worth the risk to try. We ordered the 16 inch margherita and when I tell you this is the best damn NY style we’ve ever had, I’m not lying. We ate it and said “okay I get why they charge so much now”. The crust is perfect and fresh, tomato sauce not super acidic and slightly sweet so very fresh, and overall flavor was amazing. Can’t afford it often but whenever we can and are in the mood for pizza, this is where we will go. 10/10

I love this pizza so much that I almost moved to the neighborhood just to be close by it. I love pizza just about any style (except for Detroit style) and this is my favorite spot for by the slice. They have original options and new flavors as well. The chicken bacon ranch is a must try. Even their salad is delicious. NY style was never my favorite but after Jimmy's, it's #2 (tavern style is #1). My wife is from NY and she says this is the closest to NY pizza she can get around here. We love this place so much that we even did part of our Engagement photos here. Every time we are even close to Jimmy's, we make a stop. Also, if you like beer they always have amazing craft options in tap. I'm not a big beer drinker but sometimes I just order one to enjoy off the tap. If you've never been, do yourself a favor and try one of the best pizzas in the city!

They have tons of vegetarian pizza options, which was great. However, the taste was disappointing. The pizza was cold when we got it, which didn’t make it enjoyable. The white slice was the favorite with the classic cheese being the second favorite. The pizza was thin but lacked crispiness. Definitely think it would have been better if heated up properly.

Start by saying I was born and raised in Queens New York... Hands down the one of best New York style pizza in Chicago! I've been searching for this type of pizza throughout the city and finally found the closest thing to it. Pizza is crispy the texture of the dough is on point with no New York flop. At this point I’ve been here multiple times every time they’ve been consistent 100% recommend!

I have twice had a slice of the mushroom pizza. It was truly delicious. I also liked the crust with it. The cafe is not a big place, and not where I wanted to sit during the pandemic (last time I ate at the bus stop bench outside), but they say they are moving at some point to a likelier neighborhood and maybe the space will be more open.

I just ordered and was delivered a 20" build my own pizza. I really wanted it to be delicious. I read some reviews and had hoped for the best. This business, Jimmy's Pizza Cafe, does offer a 10% military/police discount which about covers the enormous tax rate in Chicago. I spoke with a pleasant enough woman on the phone while ordering it. She told me that the crust was hand made and that the fresh mozzarella was delicious. So what did I do? I chose sliced tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, spinach, chicken and it came with some of the usual sauce and shredded mozzarella that pizzas tend to come with. The pizza with delivery ($3) plus the tip ($3.20) cost $45.00 (with the 10% discount applied already). I opened the enormous box. The visual presentation was pleasant enough. I slipped two pieces onto a blue ceramic plate, hunkered down in front of a movie and eagerly took a bite hoping for a super satisfying taste to wash over my taste buds... It was so bland. So very very bland. Nearly tasteless. I chomped into the somewhat tough and overly chewy "handmade" crust. It was utterly dissatisfying! I was so hungry and so desirous of some good pizza. I am originally from NY and I have had some excellent, excellent pizza in my life. This was just not it. Not at all. I managed to slog down two slices, as I was totally famished, and I was so unhappy. The chicken was in small 3/4" x 3/4" x 3/16" squares and they were so dry. Not fund to chew or eat at all! There seemed to be no seasoning not any sort of noticable " pizza" zest to it at all. I dusted it with some black pepper I. Hopes that it would assist the blatant blandness. To no avail. Even the crust edge was unpleasant to try and chomp, chew through. I will not get another expensive and tasteless pizza from there again. Sorry. I would much rather write a pleasant review but my experience with this bland and tasteless oversized disc has left me without the words and experience I had hoped to have had... If you opt to try this pizza from this business, I certainly hope you have a better experience. Good luck!

The Pizza would have been EXCELLENT worth 6 Stars but for the fact that it was TOO SALTY, which messed up the taste. Still, it had excellent thick crust around the edges and was baked just right. My wife who usually tolerates a lot more salt than I do also felt that there was too much salt on this pizza. It's a terrible shame that someone was heavy handed with the Salt. If I lived closer I would have returned it, but given that I did not want to drive all that distance I did not do that. The 16" Pizza cost over $21 with taxes, which is quite expensive even relative to Gourmet Italian Places that serve authentic Marghereta pizzas.

This pizza is so fantastic that I get hungry just writing this. I like New York style pizza, this is the place to be. A little pricey at about $24 for a two topping pizza but worth every penny

Crust was perfect, nice char, not soggy in the middle. we had a 20" pie, with their homemade sausage, onions, and Basil. Sausage had a nice kick. Slices folded perfectly. Solid flavor on the sauce. Salad was good, as were the homemade garlic knots. The homemade Beignets were OUTSTANDING. They rival anything i've had in New Orleans. A few tables, so basically a care out place. some parking in the rear. Price was ok.
