We called and they said it would be a 30 minute wait, but arrived 10 minutes later and there was none. This place is a few short blocks from my house and I've read favorable reviews about their pizza, beer and wine, so the lady and I finally made our move. We ordered the Hot Honey and Mushroom pizzas. They were super thin, medium-sized gourmetish pies. The Hot Honey was flavorful, the mushroom was lacking in flavor and kinda dry. We had glasses of wine to accompany the pizza Rose's and Red Bubbles. Both were very tasty on the tongue, but shallow pours. We followed those up with Old Fashions which was a better drink value. Our tab was $155 for the 2 pizzas and 4 drinks. It was a good experience. The pizza was fun to watch being made. When it comes to flavors, ingredients and portions, there are many better Chicago pizza options out there.

I was pleased with everything about my experience at the Bungalow. I bet the restaurant would be rated much higher if it was a stand alone breakfast spot. I got the bagel with seeds and a scallion based cream cheese, which was delicious. You can tell they have their sourdough on point. We also had the maple miso donut, which was great if you can appreciate a sourdough donut. 5/5! It was great.

Tried the pizza sandwich because we arrived after the bagels had been sold out. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever tasted. Layers upon layers of ham and meats in an orange infused goats cheese dip. While you’re there, try the craft beers and blood orange doughnuts. Bag a bar seat if you can to watch the chefs in action.

This a difficult restaurant to rate. I should start with the positive. Very good food, particularly the pizza and sandwich options. Unfortunately, the quality of the food is overwhelmed by a very poor approach to its offerings and very mediocre service. We arrive about 30 minutes early and to their credit, they accommodated us. We saw the wonderful doughnuts and other pastries at the bar and commented on them. What no one told us was that they would sell out all the pastries and bagels by the time we ordered. So about half the menu disappeared. The food was served to each of us as it was ready. But the interval between people being served was way too long. One person got their shakshuka within 15 minutes of ordering. Those who ordered pizza got served roughly 45 minutes later. The server was pleasant enough but had no explanations for why half the food was gone by the time we ordered or why it should take almost an hour to get our food. I won’t be back not because I didn’t enjoy what I ate, but because the service was not good and the menu misleading. misleading

Frankly, I see this so much in the last four years. Food that is average being hyped up primarily on the basis of the owner‘s position on social issues. At this establishment, a 21.1% service fee is included, with the disclosure that “no tip is necessary“. Perhaps the fascination is the fact that the proprietors have the decency to actually disclose this as opposed to the Weasley edition on your tab, which has become so common place. All of this was underwritten by the fact that I found the food to be average fair at best.

Great customer service, tasty crispy soft bagels (Sat only) with unique cream cheese flavors. Decent lavender latte. Get busy on Saturdays, bustling atmosphere. Outdoor seating option

We made a reservation here for a Sunday afternoon on a very hot summer day. The outdoor area was large with several tables; the indoor market was closed due to the pandemic. They have made their entire menu, ordering, and payment system work via app; it functioned just fine. Ambiance in the outdoor area was okay—not great. The picnic tables were comfortable, but the area could use some landscaping, and heat tended to get very trapped due to the clear plastic covers over the patio area (admittedly, it was a super-hot day to begin with). But the vibe was chill and totally casual. They had a nice selection of cool beers—a handful on tap and a few cans. All of the beers were great, especially a wheat beer with apricot and the “Yard Sale.” Wide-ranging menu—several types of pizza, including classics and a few twists on classics, lots of baked goods, salads, and sandwiches. Menu ranged from relatively healthy to terrible for you!, so it was easy to suit a variety of tastes. The ham and cheese sandwich was delicious and a standout; the pickles on it were delicious. The BLT was pretty good but was very heavy on the sauce and a little light on the bacon. The pepperoni pizza’s tomato sauce had a nice tang. Service was speedy and polite. A nice place to hang out for a couple of hours on a summer day. Would definitely return.
