Let me start off by saying I've never felt that service was so bad that I had to write a negative review. This will be my first. My partner and I attempted to dine at Double Zero in NYC on Tuesday, November 26th. We arrived to find 2 other customers in the location, each at their own table. We sat down and ordered around 5:05. Over the next few minutes, several other customers came into the restaurant, including a 4-top that appeared to be a friends group, and a woman with 2-3 children along with her husband, and another couple. By 5:40P, the 4-top of friends had already had two pizzas delivered and had almost finished their food. The others in the restaurants had already received some portion of their meals as well. My partner and I had not received our order. When I inquired as to how long it would take to finish our order of a single pizza, I was told that they were just about to start making it. When I asked how the tables that arrived, and ordered, after us got their orders (including at least two pizzas), I was told that it wasn’t a problem. When I inquired if pizza’s were cooked in the order of them being placed, I was told that sometimes the system prints the orders late, and was again being told that this wasn’t a problem. (I’m not sure why they didn’t recognize this as a problem and at minimum offer an apology, rather they blamed me) When I informed the staff that I had to leave because I didn’t have time to wait if they were just barely starting my order, after already waiting for 35 minutes at this point, I again was told this wasn’t an issue, and that I was making a problem where that wasn’t one. I’m not sure how the staff could be so dismissive of my concerns, and even turn the script and try to put the blame on me for “making a problem where there isn’t one” when clearly they hadn’t even started on my food after 35 minutes. Had delivered food to other tables (including pizzas) ahead of ours and didn’t seem to be a bit concerned about this. No apologies, no concern, just telling me that it was my fault somehow for being concerned, and making a problem where none existed, about how long it had been and they were just barely starting the order.

Came here to accommodate a vegan friend – was a bit skeptical initially, but ended up enjoying vegan pizza! I’ll admit I still much prefer the real deal, but Double Zero pizza had great flavors and some pretty innovative ideas.

Very nice terrace in SoHo to taste Italian plate completely vegan: no mozzarella on the pizza but cashew cheese, mushrooms, vegetables. A different experience for an Italian but interesting especially for my vegan friend! Raisonnable prices.

It’s a lovely space, with excellent service and friendly staff. Free water served immediately which I appreciated. Rows of wine bottles on one wall, dim lighting and a cosy temperature all lend a very inviting atmosphere. Yes, it’s expensive, at pizza pies for 20something dollars. There are lots of pizza option to choose from. Nonpizza options are slightly less. I got the truffle cream pizza, loaded with mushrooms. Despite the impressive appearance, the pizza flavour was just…. OK. Yes I ate it all bc I was hungry and paid for it. But sadly it was just fine. I’ve had much better nonvegan and vegan pizzas.

Double Zero Pizzeria is worth a visit if you're in the lower Eastside. We had a Caesar salad, pesto pizza, and dessert. The prices at Double Zero are high, but this is Manhattan after all. The service and atmosphere were also good, but not memorable.
