  I've had my fair share of Italian food in my life from NYC to Rome. But this pizza and salad was on another level. The chef is innovative but not crazy. Every ingredient compliments the other like air in a balloon. I would come back to New Zealand just to eat here again.

  Great Italian restaurant by the beach. Pizza was very good. However we were even more impressed by their baked brie and the pane fritto. Staff were super friendly and efficient. Loved it!!!

  Amazing pizza. The dough is perfect, the tomato sauce is fresh and delicious, just perfect. And the staff are great! It gets busy so do book :)

  Great place, bookings essential for a reason! Food takes it time to get to your table but is amazing, fresh and tasty. I’m personally a fan of napolitan pizza (I’m Argentinian, we like ticker base), but the flavour and size are great. Will be back!

  Black Sand is located in Ōakura, a bougie surf town near New Plymouth, right on the beach where you can watch the most amazing sunsets. As soon as you walk in you can tell Black Sand is run by professionals. Despite it being an incredibly busy (eat in and takeaways) Sunday night we were promptly and calmly seated with a view of the beach and served tap Peroni beer. No stress, helpful staff. Perfect. You can absolutely tell that this place is AVPN authenticated (#751) and you can watch the dough being stretched and topped before being cooked in the wood fired pizza oven. The toppings were absolutely of the best quality and the range of pizzas had something for everyone. Definitely worth the trip.

  Right on the beach, this restaurant looks out over the wild and rugged black sand beach at Oakura. It was particularly dramatic when we were here, with quite wild weather. Fabulously cooked fish of the day. Some very noisy and unreined-in kids running around so we had to move tables but this is no comment on the restaurant itself. Highly recommended if you're in that area.

  Was delicious. My 10 year old ordered the brussel sprouts with lemon aioli yeast flakes and chilli and loved them . The pizza rocked as well. Thanks for a great experience Thanks chef for blessing us with your amazing food.

  Sensational Pizzas, you can see why this Pizzeria is accredited by the Naples AVPN. Pizzas are true Neapolitan style, cooked in 90 seconds with a perfect crust. The margherita pizza was perfect. My wife is GF and unfortunately there is no GF base, but there are GF options.
