Beware: Not kid friendly. My wife and I walked in at 5pm (walk in dinner time in Japan, most restaurants don’t require reservations until 6-7pm). We asked for a table for four and were seated. A few moments later our children walked in. The staff immediately rescinded and claimed we needed a reservation…to an almost empty restaurant. It was apparent they do not want children (especially foreigners) in their restaurant. No problem - our money was well-spent elsewhere. Check out La Giostra

This little pizza restaurant absolutely hit the spot. After travelling around Japan for a few weeks wanted to have a pizza. Ordered two pizzas which were tasty and nicely cooked in the pizza oven. Desert was a delicious chocolate cake. Food was simple but nice. The staff were friendly and spoke English and gave us an English menu which made everything easy.

Our second visit to this location; this time for lunch. Lunch sets start around ¥1,400 and include pizza or pasta, a salad, a drink and desert. My Margarita lunch set was ¥300 extra because the margarita pizza is their award winning pie. Though ¥1,700 for the lunch set felt a bit steep for me, I enjoyed it!

Pizza cooked by an internationally-recognized chef (World No. 3)?! How can you beat that in northern Japan? Our pizza and gnocchi were delicious and we found the service to be both very professional and friendly. Perfect for a couple’s dinner! This is the branch of the original restaurant, which has been in business for over 30 years. Longevity for a reason. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. We just wish that most of the pasta options were available in single, rather than double, portions. English menu and English-speaking staff available.
