An old fashionable and atmospheric restaurant close to downtown Brooklyn. Definitely a locals place. The portions were huge - one pizza pie would have been enough to feed four. My wife and I finished ours for breakfast next morning! Very tasty too. The owner was initially rather grumpy and off-hand, but relaxed as the meal progressed and became friendly and helpful.

Quick lunch today with my bro. Really good inexpensive heros. Wouldn't mind going back with my love to share a pizza and veal scallopini in white wine sauce, shrimp parm and some brandy Alexanders. Unpretentious and delicious food.

There are a zillion pizza places in NYC. I live in Staten Island. My friends and I pay that $17 toll on the Verrazzano Bridge to go to Sams for the best pizza on earth. Louie the owner is a super guy. The place has old world charm. Just love the place so much. I must have eaten thousands of slices in my life and none come close to the pizza Lou serves.

Came here on a recommendation and it absolutely lived up to it. Myself and my son were made welcome by the owner from the moment we arrived. We had a stupendous pizza and delicious parmigiana melanzane. The owner proved to be as honest as he was friendly when he later went to great effort to chase me down after I had mistakenly overpaid.

This is the BEST pizza I have ever had, and I own a pizzeria. After the first bite there was truly a moment of silence; this was the best I have ever had.

Walk through the door of Sam's and you go back in time to Brooklyn the way it was decades ago. The Pizza is one of the very best I have had anywhere, high quality sauce and mozzarella, no additives, baked in an old oven that you cannot find today.
