Best pizza ever! The quality of the ingredients is unbelievable, and the combination of flavors was absolutely perfect. It’s no wonder they’re 14th in Europe’s 50 Top Pizza — you can truly taste the passion and hard work in every bite. If you’re looking for an amazing pizza experience, this is the place. They do two styles: Romana and Napoletana. The Romana style was a delightful surprise — I didn’t expect it, but I loved it! The Napoletana is incredible as well.

Wow! Where to start... I have been on missions to pizza restaurants in Napoli, going to the top ten. I have a habit of asking pizza restaurants that I fall in love and get to know where the owners absolute favorite pizza comes from. I ... You get the point I LOVE pizza. Demaio was astounding. I will travel back to Bilbao just to go here for pizza... And to end. I have a collection of tests... The Tetlow test is would you eat two meals in a row at a restaurant. I did the next best thing as I was leaving the next day. I cancelled dinner plans and took a takeaway pizza... They serve traditional pizzas and pie type pizzas. The pie pizza was off the charts. Can't recommend highly enough.

Excellent pizza with a lot of flavour and right Neapolitan texture. We did not have a reservation but they accommodated us in 30 minutes in early afternoon. It is one of the Top50 pizza places in Europe. After trying many of them, we believe Demaio serves the best pizza in Europe outside of Italy. Truly amazing pizza!

The pizza is absolutely amazing wow. The dough the tomato. All super fresh Itsaso is such a sweetheart. I ate so fats forgot to take a good photo but trust that it’s amazing. I am the pickiest eater alive 10000/10000 recommended

If you also try to visit as many top 50 pizza restaurants when you travel in Europe I will make sure to visit Demaio in Bilbao. Maybe it should be much higher on the list even though they are on place 17 in 2024. My opinion is that it is the best pizza I have tasted this year.

After an impromptu afternoon at Sopela Beach with friends, we headed back into Bilbao around 20:30 and decided on Demaio at Albia. It’s one of the city’s dining hotspots, so expect to wait — everyone does — but it’s worth it. Our group of six was eventually seated at a table in the very back, which fit us just fine. At the San Vicente location, they serve only the Neapolitan-style pizza, which was perfectly fine with us. My son’s mozzarella pizza arrived with the mozzarella fresh on top rather than fully melted — surprising at first, but once he understood this was intentional and part of the gourmet style, he devoured it with gusto. A good sign! We also noticed a neighboring table’s lasagna, which looked like a lasagna mountain — impressive. Service was friendly, food was excellent, and the overall experience satisfying. One drawback: the acoustics in the room are poor — no panels, curtains, or upholstery to absorb the echo — which made conversation a bit of a challenge. Delicious pizza, lively atmosphere, but bring your “restaurant voice.”
