  The food was great, so was the overall experience. However, when the check came, I felt cheated. All the dishes on the menu costed between 25 and 40 dollars, but we ordered the specials of the day offered by the waiter without asking the price because we assumed they’d be within the same price range. In the end, they costed 65, 70 and 155 dollars each, so even though I should’ve asked, I think they could’ve let me know that the specials would cost up to 4x the price of a regular dish. Great food, but be careful with verbally offered “specials”

  We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Zia Maria in Little Italy, NYC. We were a little concerned that it might be a tourist trap but it was delightful. We sat streetside and my husband was worried about traffic noise but there really was no traffic and it was pleasant. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. My husband ordered the Carbonara and I ordered the Spinach-Ricotta ravioli - it was wonderful! And we had a nice bottle of Sangiovese. We really enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere and, while nothing in NYC is cheap, this meal was reasonable.
