Starita has been in Materdei since 1901, when Alfonso Starita opened a wine cellar that slowly turned into a fried-food shop and pizzeria; Don Antonio Starita, a founder of the association of centenary pizzerias, runs it now with his family. Its signature is the Montanara Starita: the dough is fried, topped with tomato, smoked provola, pecorino and basil, then passed through the wood oven to dry and crisp. The other fried classic is the Corna di Maradona, a horseshoe of fried dough filled with sheep's ricotta, cicoli and black pepper, named in the 1980s by a regular who called it Maradona's horns.

The pizza is good, but the dough is slightly chewier than how I like it. Still tasty. I had a margherita with buffalo mozzarella and my bf had a pizza with pancetta and pomodorini. Both good. I also tried a special Christmas beer that I really enjoyed. The place is very busy and there was a long queue to get a table but it moved relatively fast for the amount of people, there. I think we waited in line around 30min.

Pretty good pizza, but not the best I had in Napoli. But definitely was worth trying. The crust was a little too chewy for me. But overall enjoyable. We had margarita, and one with zucchini flowers. And we also had the fried dough fritters with pistachio cream. That's a must to try.

Unbelievably delicious pizza, undoubtedly some of the best in the world. My girlfriend and I shared a margherita and pizza del papa and everything was perfect. Light and pillowy dough, fresh tangy sauce, high-quality cheese, and the del papa was a surprisingly delicious hit. The wait was long, we went for dinner around 19:45 and were seated by 20:30, but absolutely worth it. We tried 4 different pizzas at some of Napoli’s most famous pizzerias and this one was our favorite, don’t miss it!

This pizzeria was one of the highlights of our stay in Naples! ✨ We had pizza here almost every night. Highly recommend the fried dough starters with arugula and cherry tomatoes, delicious! That’s the real Napoli pizza — totally different from anything I’ve ever had before! Even the bread is delicious on its own. I just wish I had been hungrier so I could have ordered more pizza! The service was impressively fast — our food arrived almost immediately after we ordered. Highly recommended.

Do not be fooled into thinking this is some small hole-in-the-wall where you have to grab a slice and go. The place is massive once you step in, seemingly endless. About the food, the pizza and calzone were top notch! There were so many choices and the prices were pretty reasonable too. Can't wait to visit again!
