Surt is easily one of my favorite pizza spots in Copenhagen. Located in the heart of the historic Carlsberg district (right by the elephants), it offers a world-class experience that manages to be both cozy and incredibly high-quality. The Magic of the Dough The founder, Giuseppe Oliva (who helped start Bæst), is a true master. The name "Surt" means "sour" in Danish, referring to their 100% sourdough process with no industrial yeast. The result is a crust that is light, perfectly charred, and much easier to digest than your typical pizza. It’s exactly as good as the hype suggests. The Ingredients & Authenticity What makes Surt stand out is the blend of local organic produce and premium Italian imports. • The Hindsholm Pizza: My absolute favorite. The pork sausage from the Hindsholm pigs is incredible, especially with the fermented chili. I’ve tried several others across many visits, and the quality never slips. • Authentic Vibe: You can really feel the Italian roots here. Using ingredients sourced directly from Italy makes the flavors feel truly authentic, yet it fits perfectly into the modern, industrial vibe of Carlsberg Byen. A Couple of "Local" Suggestions • The Sharing Factor: I love the concept, but I wish they wouldn't "force" the sharing experience quite so much. Sometimes you just want all the pizzas brought to the table at the same time unless asked otherwise! • Lunch Hours: Honestly, the only other negative is that they aren't open for lunch, why keep this goodness just for the evening? (Haha, but seriously!)

SURT Carlsberg serves the best Italian pizza I have ever tasted. The crust was perfectly baked—crispy on the outside, soft inside—and the flavors felt fresh and balanced. The toppings were not overloaded, but every bite was full of taste. I am used to pizzas often being very heavy with cheese and spices, but here the style was more authentic and natural. I really enjoyed this difference. It felt lighter yet more satisfying. We tried all 7 pizzas on the menu, and each one was delicious. My personal favorite was the Shrooms pizza – rich, earthy, and full of flavor. Drinks were excellent too, including Negroni, Gin & Tonic, and a lovely Red Wine. For dessert, we had Tiramisu and Chocolate Mousse, both a perfect sweet ending to the meal. The place has a modern and cozy atmosphere, and the service was warm. For me, it was not just a meal, but an experience of true Italian pizza in Denmark. Highly recommended!

While it does sound ridiculous to pay over 200dkk for a pizza, damn is it worth it. It is probably the best pizza I’ve had in Copenhagen, and you’ll surely not find something similar in texture and quality of ingredients at a lower price. So crispy on the outside and soft of the inside. We also tried the Focaccia with Olive oil and Tiramisu as a desert and all that was very tasty too! The one improvement could be the portion size of the glass of wine. I would rather pay 15, 20dkk extra per glass but at least have a proper glass of wine rather than just a sip. The wine tasted lovely at least.

The best pizza in the world! ⭐️ Every time we go to Copenhagen, our first program is to visiting Surt, because it's a one of a kind experience. They make the best sourdough pizza, what we have ever tasted in their own wood fired oven. You can see every step of the preparation from your table and the flames are mesmerizing! 🔥 Trying out the famous Hindsholm pizza is definitely a must, but do not skip the other dishes as well, because they are not just tasty and look beautiful, but you will feel the flavour of Sicily in every single bite. Great wines and great cocktails too. 🍷 Book in advance and have a very special night thanks to the amazing staff there. 🙏

The BEST pizza I have ever eaten and deserves all the praise! I ate shrooms which was excellent and my partner hindsholm, very delicious and so light although it has meat. The pizza doughs are very special here, so light, easy to digest and delicious. The toppings are interesting and prepared with very fresh ingredients that makes a huge difference. There is a nice, cosy, down to earth atmosphere inside and one can see where they prepare the food. Kind and friendly staff... Recommending strongly!!!We will certainly go back!

Super lovely place. Good vibe and lovely atmosphere. Nice food and good menu. Poor acoustics so it is not user-friendly for larger self-containersRead more

Ok service. The pizza was expensive and it was saved on anchois and too much thyme. We were alone in the restaurant. They were running out of coffee so we had to find a cafe. Penalty for cancellation. You can only be there for 2 hours! Dunke, dunke music so we had to talk out loud.Read more

I went there with my gf. Location has little ambience, decent wine list and it’s overpriced. I’m Sicilian and I am impressed with the fact they had “sfincione” but it’s average Sicilian food with quality ingredients and 1000% the price. The pizza was very good, and so was the service. But the poor location, wine list and simple menu does not justify the 100 euro price for a complete meal (per person).Read more

Ok pizza. Not fabolous. Nice if they support high quality and sustainable producers. But is is expensive when it doesn't have an ecolable or similar. We where met with a weird, not very welcoming reaction when we came into the restaurant because it isn't obvious that the take away pick up place is at the back of the building away from the restaurant. The take away menu had very few options available. The rest was sold out.Read more

35 mins waiting for a pizza is just too long. To add insult to injury they won't deliver two pizzas to the table at once. Nope. No can do. So we had to share the first pizza, and then the second one that arrived 15 mins later. You might think they are using an ooni pizza oven for a single pizza, but no, they have a full-size oven. Even worse, the first pizza arrived cold. This is a classic case where poor management and "I am too important for this world" attitude gets in the way of a restaurant being successful. The rather bimodal distribution of scores by other reviewers speak for themselves: Yes, the pizza is delicious (high scores), but the attitude–even when it comes to toppings–completely spoils the experience. Would I go back? Heck no. There is excellent pizza all over Copenhagen and this place, unfortunately, is just one more of them. Except that the pathetic service makes any pizza develop a bitter aftertaste. No, SURT, you are not that important. 2/5 because the Margherita was good, but the pickles were weird.Read more
