Took a day trip to Naples while I stayed in Rome to sample the food at Italy’s oldest standing pizza establishment. The menu was simple - three choices which is different from what I’m used to in New York. The pie was thin with a soft crust and not a lot of cheese. My final verdict…it was good and definitely worth a side trip from my wandering.

We visited this place because it was highly hyped on social media. There was a queue during lunch time and we waited about 15 minutes for a table for four. The menu is very simple, with only 4 pizzas available, and prices are very reasonable at €6 per pizza. The pizza was large, light, chewy, and tasted good. While it was enjoyable, it was not outstanding or “the best,” but definitely great value for money. The restaurant was crowded, yet service was efficient — we waited less than 10 minutes for our pizzas. The staff worked hard and kept things moving smoothly. They do ask for a tip when settling the bill, and we were happy to tip given the effort and speed of service. Overall, it is a decent spot that feels a bit overhyped. Not worth making a special trip for, but a good and affordable option if you’re already in the area.

L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele is truly a historic treasure — and the pizza absolutely lives up to its legendary reputation. For just 6 euros, you get an incredible, delicious, and very filling pizza that captures the authentic taste of Naples. Simple, traditional, and unbelievably good! I do have to mention one small downside: during my visit, takeaway was the only option, so I had to sit outside on a bench (and I was lucky there were even two benches available). No paper towels were provided either, which made things a bit less convenient. Still, the quality of the pizza is undeniable, and the flavor makes it absolutely worth the visit. If you’re in Naples and want to try a true classic, Da Michele is a must — just be prepared for a takeaway experience! 🍕✨

The food is classic in the best way—everything is kept simple, high-quality, and done properly. The service was exceptionally fast too. We also came at a non-touristy time, so we walked right in and sat wherever we wanted with no waiting. Atmosphere is a solid 5/5 for me because it reminded me of my hometown and the traditional “lokanta” restaurants back home warm, honest, and comforting. If you’re coming to Napoli, this place really shouldn’t be missed.

We went in February so the lines were shorter than in the summer. There were two lines - one for dine in and one for take away. The take away one moved quite quickly. We waited for about 20 minutes for a table which was great! It’s helpful

The pizza is fantastic. Proper Pizza, just good base, crust, sauce and basil. The way pizza should be. However we got the half and half marinara. The queue for takeaway is at least 25 mins and a tackle can be the same. Get the ticket for a

Truly authentic Neapolitan pizza! They offer only three types of pizza, all made according to traditional recipes, and the place is very popular. You may have to wait a little for a table, but their system is very well organized, so the
