The interior of Trattoria Vesso has a very nice vibe, and the staff were welcoming. Our server in particular was excellent — very nice, knowledgeable about the menu, and truly hospitable, which made the experience much better. The appetizers were a highlight — the halloumi sticks and the cheese balls with marinara and pesto were really tasty. The pastas were quite decent and enjoyable overall. Unfortunately, the pizzas were disappointing. While I understand Italian pizzas usually have some light charring for flavor, these were unevenly cooked — the outer crusts were very burnt and black, while the centers were undercooked. The burnt flavor was overwhelming and took away from the taste. We were able to finish the Mediterranean pizza, but both had the same issue. Another downside was the timing: about 30 minutes between appetizers and mains. Overall, the atmosphere, appetizers, and service were excellent, but the pizzas need more consistency, and some of the dishes could use more balance in flavor.

Had an amazing experience at Trattoria Vesso in Halifax. The ingredients speak for themselves, fresh, high-quality, and full of flavour, from the dough to the toppings. You can really taste the difference. The staff were equally impressive: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. A simple, honest meal made exceptional by great people and great ingredients. Will definitely be back.

Friendly staff, quality service and food. I enjoyed their Margherita pizza and a delicious dessert they had (A little pricey though). Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to try their pistachio tiramisu, but they had one and that is my next if I pass by Halifax again:)

Fresh pasta is outstanding. You can tell it’s made in house. A must visit if fresh pasta is your thing. Friendly and warm staff. Great chef.

Just a note I have had more pizza in Naples than North America. It is simple tomatoes cheese dough and wood fired oven, anything else simply not Italian. Vesso has all those things that make a Neopolitan pizza true. Well Done in its simplicity.

We made a reservation online and our table was ready, even though we arrived a bit ahead of the time. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The food came out fairly quickly after we ordered and the food was delicious. The staff were courteous and checked on us, but gave space to let us enjoy the place. We would come back.

Recently celebrated our anniversary here! Ordered the Margherita wood fire pizza and it was delicious! Pizza was cooked perfectly and very tasty. The Bucatini was good but nothing special. Not pictured was the Bruchetta Caprese which was amazing, and the Arancini which was good but very small serving. One of the best espresso martinis I’ve ever had!

"When my family and I first moved to Nova Scotia, one of the first places we visited was Trattoria Vesso. Since then, we've tried many other restaurants in town, but Vesso remains our favorite. It's hands-down the best authentic pizza restaurant in the area. Every time we go, the experience is incredible. The pasta is just as amazing as the pizza—everything is so fresh, homemade, and made from scratch. You can really taste the quality and care in every dish. There are never any leftovers—we clean our plates every time! It’s become our go-to spot for a cozy, delicious meal that reminds us of home."
