We had a lovely Wednesday evening at La Disfida. It’s clearly a favourite with locals, as the restaurant was impressively busy for a midweek night. …

It's always a pleasurable experience for us - all dishes were enjoyed but the truffle papardelle was outstanding by far, and I definitely intend to return for this dish while truffle season is on! The young servers we had upstairs were so lovely and hardworking.

We don’t live near Haberfield so coming here every so often makes it a special experience for my family. It’s our favourite Italian in Sydney. Every Monday they release a new specials board, so the menu is always changing. Every time we

I was working and used an app to find these calorie-counted arancini. This dish had good protein and fit my daily goal. It tasted fresh rather than like diet food. The room is comfortable and the service is fast.

Even though we couldn’t book on line, and when we arrived they were full outside and most inside tables we were greeted warmly and they found us a table. We expected to have to wait as they were so busy but a drink order was taken and served quickly, Food followed quickly and was good. We had a good experience and enjoyed it. The tiramisu was the best I’ve had in a long time.Read more

Booked for a Prosecco tasting which was interesting. The staff were aware that I was vegetarian. Then we were advised that lunch was being organised, we were not told how much it would cost or what would be served. I had a little capresse salad and a hand full of fries. The rest of the plate were shared on the table. No vegetarian food was provided, apart from this, as I can not eat gluten i ate nothing, I believe 3 pizzas and 3 pasta dishes were brought out for 12 to share, and bottles of what looked to be house red and white wine, but I don’t drink much so had none. I was advised by the waiter I had to pay a share $76. I was horrified, when I discussed it with the employee that had run the tasting. I was told that it could be reduced to $60 then he embarrassed me, when I was asked how much did I want to pay, and ended up paying $20 for two pieces of small thin slices of mozzarella two pieces of tomato two basil leaves and a handful of chips. I paid cash and left immediately. I would’ve been happy to look at the menu and order something that was appropriate for me to eat that much my dietary requirements but that was not offered. I am so disappointed that this was not offered to me and that food I could not eat was forced upon me and then they tried to charge me for food. I did not eat and wine. I did not drink.Read more

We come here as often as we can, even though it is about a 30 minute trip from our part of Sydney. We sit out at a table on the pavement…. Even in winter, under the heaters. It suits our sensibilities. We just love this place. My husband is lactose intolerant, so he brings his own LF cheese to go on the pizzas. And he LOVES restaurants who accommodate that flexibility, so that he can order what he wants. But all round, this is a great restaurant. The waitresses that often serve us, are delightful (Laura and Angela). The pizzas are just delicious… both in their crust and toppings. The house red (Lionheart?) hits the spot each time. I love the warm glow of the table lamps. It is fair value, especially when you consider the quality of the pizzas, and the joy of the “buzziness” and general ambience of the restaurant. I chose this restaurant to celebrate Valentines Day with my husband, when we could have gone anywhere in Sydney. Perhaps that should have been my review!Read more

Update: I emailed the restaurant directly to allow them to rectify the situation but sadly they left my email unread. __ I have been coming to this restaurant for years. While I’m not exactly local, I’ve gone out of my way to dine here because the food has always been great. So when choosing a spot for my friend’s birthday last Friday, this place seemed like the obvious choice. Unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of disappointing - particularly due to the service. We were seated upstairs as requested but our waitress was, without exaggeration, the rudest hospitality worker I have ever encountered across any industry. Her attitude and behaviour were the textbook definition of how NOT to provide customer service. The restaurant made an error, which we admittedly should have caught sooner. A male server mistakenly delivered and poured a bottle of wine at our table. Since we were engaged in conversation and there were multiple people in our group, we assumed someone at the table had ordered it. About 15 minutes later, the waitress came over and abruptly asked if we had ordered the wine. I responded honestly that I hadn’t, but since we were a group, there was a chance someone else had. Instead of handling the situation professionally, she shouted at the entire table: “Which one of you ordered?” We were stunned. When no one immediately responded, she proceeded to berate us loudly in front of the entire dining area. The entire room turned to look at us, making the situation humiliating and uncomfortable. Despite her aggression, we tried to de-escalate by telling her to just add the wine to our tab - we were happy to pay for it. However, she insisted she needed to speak with the manager. Again, we told her there was no need, just charge us for the wine and move on. Our mains arrived and just as we started eating the waitress returned. This time to clear our wine glasses and remove the bottles from the table. When we stopped her and asked what she was doing, she claimed the manager said that since we hadn’t ordered the wine, it had to be removed. At this point, I repeated, yet again, that we were willing to pay for it. But she refused to listen and physically took the bottles off the table. By this point, we were beyond frustrated. She could have handled this at any other time, yet she deliberately chose to disrupt our meal. Her actions completely ruined the vibe of the night, to the point that half the table left and the rest of us started looking for another restaurant to go to. Another staff member came over to clear our unfinished plates and asked if everything was okay. We told her that the food was great but the service had left a terrible taste in our mouths and rather than let things escalate, we were choosing to leave. When we received the bill, we noticed that after all the fuss, the bottles of wine had still been added to the total. We called the waitress over to ask why, given that she took them away. Her response? “Because you drank what was poured in the glasses.” At this point, I had lost all patience. I reminded her that she had made a huge scene about taking the bottles away and refused to let us keep them, despite our repeated offers to pay. After a heated exchange, she finally removed the charge. May I suggest that all service team are brushed up on BASIC customer service training. This entire situation could have been avoided with a calm conversation rather than public humiliation. Furthermore, if a manager or supervisor was involved in the wine removal decision, they should have addressed us personally rather than sending the same rude waitress back. The simplest solution was presented multiple times - leave the wine, add it to the bill and move on. The fact that this logical solution was ignored shows a lack of problem-solving skills. If customer service isn’t your forte or you don’t like problem-solving, hospitality is not the right industry for you. I don’t know what training they give in Nepal but any customer service, anywhere, in any industry, requires patience, professionalism and people skills.Read more

My Mum and I stopped in to have a bite to eat for dinner on our way home from being in the city. We were greeted by two lovely servers who made us feel welcomed and even though we didn't have a booking they were happy to seat us. From the get-go you could tell they wanted us to enjoy our dinner from start to finish and they went out of their way to do so. They let us try the wine first that we were considering getting a glass of, without us even asking them to do this. They saw that we were going to share an entree and two main meals together, so they brought them out one by one waiting for us to finish the dish before, so that we didn't feel too cramped or overloaded. It was a perfect casual experience that makes us want to go again. Oh! and as I write this, I'm having my leftover pasta Ragu that I took home last night, and it is just as perfect today as it was last night.
