The Tower of London began as a Norman fortress after the 1066 conquest, with the White Tower built under William the Conqueror. It later served as palace, prison, armory, and treasury, and the Crown Jewels remain the visit's main bottleneck. Allow roughly two to three hours if you want the walls, towers, exhibitions, and a Yeoman Warder tour rather than a rushed lap.

Most visits return toward Tower Hill and the west side of the fortress. From there, north and northwest into the City of London is the practical pizza direction. St Katharine Docks to the east offers waterside dining, but it is a deliberate detour. Also keep the entities straight: the Tower of London is the fortress, Tower Bridge is the bascule bridge, and Tower Hill is the transport area.

O ver is the strongest nearby south-of-the-river option if your next move crosses London Bridge. North of the Tower, Sud Italia and Rudy's Spitalfields make more sense for a route toward Aldgate or Shoreditch. All three work from the Neapolitan family, where dough and bake matter more than a landmark view.
